Elevator Manager
Chatham-Kent County, Ontario

Our client is an Ontario-based agricultural procurement and trading company that delivers commodities to buyers in North American and international markets. As the Elevator Manager for their terminal in the Chatham-Kent region, your goal is to ensure facility operations run smoothly, mentor and manage the on-site team, and coordinate procurement and logistics strategies for corn, soybean and wheat commodities. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with an accomplished background in facility management and Health & Safety practices.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will:

  • Provide operational leadership, adhere to and develop health and safety policies, and showcase your business acumen to ensure the facility’s long-term success
  • Lead and coordinate 5 facility staff with a focus on safe and efficient operations, while ensuring commodities remain in good quality condition during receiving, storing and shipping
  • Develop employee potential and improve performance by providing ongoing feedback that aligns corporate culture with a collaborative team environment at the terminal to achieve individual, facility and company objectives
  • Communicate with regional teams and head office on market data and trends, facility operations and the progress of ongoing projects
  • Oversee the grain contracting process, use customer feedback to develop new contracting tools, and ensure customer compliance through internal auditing practices
  • Maintain and drive a culture of safety throughout the facility and ensure full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Identify and implement facility improvements, and develop proposals for new capital investments

Your background includes:

  • Proven and impactful leadership abilities developed through 5+ years of operations management experience involving agriculture commodity handling and transportation
  • A Degree or Diploma is an asset. Willing to consider a combination of relevant industry experience paired with demonstrated ongoing professional development
  • Advanced communication, decision making and problem solving skills developed within a fast-paced team based environment
  • Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and prior P&L and budget development experience
  • Familiarity with grain marketing/procurement in Ontario and relevant concepts including futures contracts and basis
