National Sales Manager

Our client is a multi-national crop protection company with an established and effective portfolio of products and business across Canada. As the leader of the Canadian sales team, be relied upon to inspire and coach peers to achieve individual and team goals through sales successes and market share gains. Use your strategic and analytical mindset to develop and execute sophisticated business plans through distributor and retail channels.

Reporting to the General Manager – Canada, you will:

  • Create and implement short- and long-term regional targets and retail business strategies for the product portfolio sold in Western and Eastern Canada
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and global executive team by providing input and feedback on product, account, pricing and marketing strategies for Canada
  • Manage and develop the sales team’s activities, processes, training and tools, while driving team engagement, and ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Gather marketplace intelligence and collaborate with other business units to capitalize on sales opportunities
  • Mentor and empower the sales team, and be responsible for hiring and recruiting talent for the team
  • Develop and implement budgets, allocate and monitor resources, manage program dollars and provide monthly forecasting for the sales division

Your background includes:

  • 10+ years’ of sales and account management experience in a leadership capacity within the agriculture sector
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in (Agri)business, commerce, agriculture or related field. MBA an asset
  • A proven ability to lead, connect with, and inspire sales teams in an environment of continuous change
  • Demonstrated success building strategic client relationships and identifying areas to grow existing relationships and partnerships
  • Proven business and financial acumen, strong negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively across business units
  • Clear and concise communication abilities, and the interpersonal skills to connect broadly with peers and external stakeholders
  • An entrepreneurial focus with a determination to succeed in an innovative, fast-paced setting
  • Extensive knowledge of the Canadian agriculture market with a focus on the crop protection sector
  • Familiarity with CRM’s/databases and SAP software as well as the Microsoft Office Suite

This position will require overnight travel throughout Eastern and Western Canada. Success in this role will lead to additional direct reports and increased responsibilities within the Management team.
