Grain Terminal Manager
Southeast Saskatchewan

Our client’s state of the art, high-speed grain hub is an essential resource that ensures commodities from Saskatchewan and Manitoba reach buyers at US ports and foreign markets. As the Grain Terminal Manager at this facility, you will coordinate operations and staff to continue the timely transportation of goods by truck and train.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will:

  • Provide operational leadership, adhere to health and safety policies, exhibit grain marketing knowledge, and showcase your business acumen to ensure the facility’s long-term success
  • Lead, mentor, coordinate and develop the Production Supervisor and elevator staff to continue safe and efficient operations while ensuring commodities remain in good quality condition
  • Ensure elevator operations comply with all laws and regulations including the CGC, Canadian Grain Act, COSHA as well as Provincial and local environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate daily railcar movement with the train master and crew, and daily on-site rail traffic for each business unit
  • Work with the grain origination team on the procurement strategy to ensure financial goals, volume targets, and supply chain objectives are achieved and exceeded
  • Communicate with merchandizing staff to confirm inventories, manage client relations, oversee finances, and resolve discrepancies when necessary

Your background includes:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a combination of management, grain operations and/or merchandising roles in Western Canada. Knowledge of the grain industry is essential
  • Experience planning and organizing railcar movement at a grain facility is strongly preferred
  • Extensive leadership with a track record of team building, coaching and mentoring staff
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance standards and laws that govern grain quality, handling, commodity transportation, and workplace health and safety
  • Strong communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced team-based environment
  • Experience developing and managing a work environment that prioritizes a safety-first mindset for all operations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Grain handling or inventory software experience an asset
